Overview: Up for sale is an amazing expressionist woodblock print by Hokkaido woodblock print artist, Hozumi Hajime, titled "Drum." It shows a Japanese drummer in front of a large bonfire. The print is from 1972. I purchased this from a Hokkaido art gallery, and prior to that had never seen a Hozumi Hajime print for sale. He is somewhat mysterious, with very little biographical information, except that he was Hokkaido-based. His works use think lines and almost look like Cold War propoganda art. This print is titled in kanji at lower left and dated and signed (in Kanji) at lower right. An incredible piece.
Condition: Print is in fair to good condition. Minor horizontal rumpling throughout. Small brown stain in upper left margin. Rumpled lower right corner.
Measurements: Print measures approximately 11.75 inches high x 10.875 inches wide.
