Authentic aircraft engine cowling from the legendary Keith-Rider R-3 racing aircraft flown by Earl Ortman in 1935-36 competition!
This rare piece of aviation history features the original cream and red flame paint scheme with "GILMORE" branding and period aviation decals including Pratt & Whitney and Gilmore Oil. The cowling is from the aircraft known as "The Gilmore Special" during its racing prime, which later became the famous "Marcoux-Bromberg Special" after 1937 modifications. The aircraft's racing career spanned 1935-1939 and competed in the National Air Races.
The restored aircraft is currently on display at the New England Aviation Museum.
