This fantastic 18 horse power short-shaft engine is very powerful and completely reliable. Since it is a 2-stroke built on a 9.9hp block, it is surprisingly light (only 84 lbs). Lighter than a 9.9hp 4-stroke; faster than any 20hp 4-stroke. It’s been well cared for and well used (from California to Mexico and beyond). DO NOT buy a 9.9hp or a 12hp or even a 15hp; they weigh the same as this (because it’s the same block). THIS is the max power, in the lightest weight. It’s just a touch bigger than what I need these days. If you’re looking for a great outboard for your fishing boat/kicker, dinghy or small sailboat, this is it.
