Staff Surveyor

Under general supervision, individual will assist the Land Survey Department in plan preparation for development, construction, and survey projects. In addition, this individual will perform various duties to assist the field crew or party chief in various types of land surveying. Primary duties are as follows:

• Prepare ALTA Maps, Lot Line Adjustments, Records of Survey, Final Maps and Parcel Maps.
• Preparation of staking plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D software.
• Read and interpret civil, architectural, and structural plans.
• Prepare cutsheets and as-staked drawings using field data along with the design information.
• Research previous survey evidence, maps, deeds, physical evidence, and other records to obtain data needed for survey.
• Prepare topographic exhibits and base maps using company CAD standards, templates, and blocks.
• Draft legal descriptions and exhibit maps.
• Prepare ALTA Maps, Lot Line Adjustments, Records of Survey, Final Maps and Parcel Maps.
• Boundary analysis calculations
• Prepare drawing check plots and address “red-line” markups promptly and completely.

• Acts as Survey Party Chief or Chainman when needed performing boundary, topographic, ALTA, right-of-way and construction surveys.
• Survey of surfaces to determine precise location and measurements of points, elevations, lines, areas and contours – for construction, land division, titles, topographic and other purposes.
• Determines methods and procedures for establishing or re-establishing survey control.
• Keeps accurate notes, records, cut sheets and sketches to describe survey work performed.

Expectations:
We expect new employees to be detail-oriented and accurate in completing projects within a scope appropriate timeframe. Individual will complete projects assigned by the Field Survey Manager and Survey Department Manager. They will maintain effective working relationships with managers and co-workers and be a team player. They will use Jensen Design & Survey, Inc. AutoCAD standards when drafting and will be responsible for accuracy and completeness of drawings. The individual must be a self-motivated problem solver who works well under pressure. Excellent organizational skills are necessary to be able to juggle multiple projects, each with schedules and budgets.

Experience:
The Staff Surveyor must hold the title of Land Surveyor-in-Training (LSIT) or be actively pursuing it with a goal of obtaining a professional Land Surveyor License. An engineering or survey related degree from an accredited university is preferred. Experience with AutoCAD Civil3D, Trimble Business Center, and Microsoft Office is beneficial. Knowledge of Star*Net and least-square adjustments is preferred.
