My father bought these as he was declining rapidly, and by the time he completed arrangements with the audiologist and accepted delivery, he was not focused enough to enjoy these top-of-the-line hearing aids. As the receipt shows, my father paid over $15,000 for this set one year ago. The receipts claim that outrageous price was a "discount" from the full $17,000 price. He tried it and liked it, signed the acceptance, but then never got a chance to use it regularly. We're finally cleaning out his stuff, and East Valley Audiology company that sold it to him says it's too late for returns. Also, although they accept used ones free for reuse, they cannot pay for used ones.
Back to the price, there are others who have listed their hearing aids and noted that the price for the top of the line oticon hearing aids is in that same range of over $15,000. The weird thing is how the audiology businesses claim they can't pay for used ones. I wonder if the manufacturer prevents them. They would be in the best position to do slight reconditioning and reprogramming for customization of used oticon hearing aids, but then they wouldn't sell new ones. How much of a comfort difference is there to have it shaped exact to your ear? How much of a difference is it to have the exactly right volume level? Is it worth $15,000 to get new instead of very slightly used?
The green light in the charger picture shows the system works.
