University Village is hiring 2 full time Prep Cooks. The Cook prepares food in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, with our established policies and procedures, and as may be directed by the department supervisor, to assure that quality food is provided at all times.
*Prepares all soups, stocks, sauces; boils, braises and roasts items as per standardized recipes.
*Prepares all sautéed, fried, grilled, steamed and baked items as per standardized recipes.
*Prepares or directs the preparation of all food served, following standard recipes and special orders. Plans food production to coordinate with meal serving hours, so that excellence, quality, temperature and appearance of food are preserved.
*Prepares all special event and catering menus as per specified by resident request.
*Assist with the proper storage and labeling of food and dry goods.
*Maintains assigned work station in a safe and sanitary condition.
*Maintains acceptable standards of personal hygiene and complies with department dress code.
*Attends in-service training and education sessions as assigned.
*Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
*A minimum of 1 year of experience in kitchen preparing and cooking food.
*At least 6 months experience in a similar capacity.
*Must be able to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing, with managers and kitchen personnel.
*Ability to use standard industrial kitchen appliances required.
*Must have a current food handler's card.
