The Flying Spoon is a new casual restaurant at the historical Santa Paula Airport. A bakery, espresso and tea cafe, restaurant, beer and wine bar, artisanal merchandise and catering, all tied together by the seasonal offerings of Ventura County. The emphasis of The Flying Spoon is whimsical and comfortable driven by seasonality and homemade American comfort style foods. We source high quality ingredients that inspire us to create the kind of foods we want to eat and share with our families. Line Cooks (Breakfast & Lunch)
Responsibilities:
Prepare menu items quickly and consistently, following recipes and standards
Assist and collaborate directly with the Head Chef
Help with prep work, organization, and daily kitchen tasks
Maintain a clean and safe workstation
Communicate effectively during service
Qualifications:
Previous line cook experience preferred (breakfast experience a plus)
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Strong attention to detail and food safety
Flexibility and weekend availability required
Baker (Early Morning Shifts)
Responsibilities:
Prepare pastries, breads, muffins, cookies, and specialty baked goods
Work closely with and assist the Head Pastry Chef
Manage proofing, baking, mixing, and finishing processes
Maintain cleanliness and organization in the baking area
Follow recipes with consistency, creativity, and precision
Qualifications:
Professional baking experience preferred
Ability to work very early mornings and weekends
Passion for quality, technique, and local ingredients
